Quick answer
An AI Relevance Score is a 0–100 number that measures how often and how positively AI assistants mention your business when customers ask for recommendations in your category and location. Vextrail measures it across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude each month.
AI Relevance Score — a 0–100 measurement of your business's visibility across the major AI assistants, based on whether you're mentioned in their answers to real customer questions, and how positively.
How the score is calculated
Each month, Vextrail generates 12 real-world questions a customer might ask about your category and location — for example, "best plumber in Austin, TX." We send each question to ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), and Claude (Anthropic) with web search enabled, so the models draw on live, current information. For each answer, we check whether your business name, known aliases, or website domain appear, and whether the mention is positive, neutral, or negative.
The combined result is a single 0–100 score with a per-platform breakdown — 36 data points in total (12 questions across 3 platforms) — that you can track month over month.
Why the score matters
A good Google rank tells you people can find your link. An AI Relevance Score tells you whether AI assistants — where more customers now start their search — actually mention you. If your score is low, it's a signal that the AEO work in your fix-it plan needs attention, not a guess.
- It measures a surface traditional SEO tools don't cover.
- It's per-platform, so you can see if one assistant names you and another doesn't.
- It's a trend, so you know whether your efforts are working over time.
What the fix-it plan tells you
Alongside your score, Vextrail's website scan checks your site against the signals AI assistants and their sources look for — structured data, consistent NAP, clear service descriptions, contact details, reviews, and FAQ content. The result is a prioritized fix-it plan: concrete changes, ranked by how much they're likely to help your visibility.
How to use your score
- Use the monthly trend to see whether your AEO work is moving the needle.
- Use the per-platform breakdown to target the assistant where you're weakest.
- Forward the fix-it plan to your web provider or agency as measurable feedback.
